For my self trip i decided to go to the Hayward Gallery on the southbank to see DRAG an exhibition about self-portraits and body politics. The first thing that i found interesting was the way the images in particular where layed out, in columns, sporadically spread out and some even in descending order as seen in S’he by Ulay:

There was another piece of which i have forgotten of which the artist had placed the art in-between 2 pieces of plastic suspending it in the air. I found this intresting not only because it allowed the item to be see the whole way round but this also plays into some initial ideas i have had about haveing the final peice descenting from the sealing to give it a physical meaning.
Another pieace I found intresting on my visit was one that wasent actuly pasrt of this paticular exhibition. It was a pice of art aratched to the side of the Queen Elizabeth hall. I though that the make up of the image was beatitiful with intricate patterns and amazing colours surrounding the people at the centre of the peace.
This work combines 2 ideas i have been thinking about; the first being this idea of the work physically decening. The secondond idea being this idea of descent from a particular place or or culture of which is represented in this work.
