Working on my mission statements

In my last post I talked about a crit I had with my tutor and the targets we set:

  • Find and anchor
  • Write 5 mission statements

It was agreed that once I had my five mission statements I would then be able to find a common interests or an anchor and then move on with a new idea that fitted the brief better.

Initially when I set the brief I intended for the project to be about pink lakes in Australia and mountains in Ireland formed by the gods when actually the project has evolved as through research I have become aware that it is not just mystery that makes a place strange, and so I want this project to reflect that.

My mission statements would be pointless unless there was one about one of the inspirations and major parts of the project my friends.I think that the final outcome definitely has to have some sort of element inspired by or including my friends, and thus should be a key part of finding my anchor.

As I have drawn inspiration from all sorts of mediums and illustrators of different styles I believe that my final outcome should reflect this. I would like tommy final outcome to feature as many different mediums of illustration as possible from ink drawings to digital.

Adding some humour into the project is not a must but if possible is something that I would like to include. I defiantly have a less serious style and definitely take myself less seriously and think this allows my work to be humorous.

A last mission statement is that I want it to include perspectives of and views from other countries that I have visited and of which other people have been to or come from. While I won’t it to retain a bit personal and real I do want it to be diverse and and adventure for me too.
